Letting go

I knew the day would come when I would have to let it go but I've been coming up with excuses to delay it. As I write this post I'm pretty bummed out because I know it is the last thing I will do before it happens. The christmas tree comes down today. I love love love the smell when there's a fresh christmas tree in the house, and I love how perfectly it fills the void in the corner. But I have to accept the reality that it is dried out and dead. To be perfectly honest, I won't even plug it in anymore for fear it will catch fire, and a slight breeze can make hundreds of needles fall off. If it weren't for having a house warming party on Sunday, I would leave the tree up, but I don't want to have to defend myself. Cale said if it's still there he will not take the blame for it. I didn't realize that having a Christmas tree up this late was weird, until upon surveying people I've realized that I'm quite possibly the only one on the planet with a real tree still standing in our living room. On the same note, the outdoor lights have been taken down, but with great pride. I was so excited when I realized that upon driving home late at night that we were the only house on the street with our lights still on, though the other houses had them up, but they were just not turned on. The next day Cale took them down, with the pride of knowing that we have the most Christmas spirit for keeping them on, but we weren't those lazy neighbors who still have them up. *sigh* I love the holidays...

christmas "vacation"

So I've been noticing lately that what is supposed to be christmas vacation isn't quite so.  The vacation started off shopping and preparing for christmas.  I love giving gifts though so it is worth is to me.  Another part of christmas I like is the baking part.  One of the best days of break thus far was the day I had Brooks and Keri over to make christmas cookies.  We only had time to make the one kind of cookie but seeing my friends was amazing.  I am frusterated that even while I'm on break it is still so hard to see my friends and family.  I still have yet to make plans with Brita- she is here from fresno for only a few weeks and I've yet to call her.  This half of vacation is a million times better than the first week and a half.  Cale driving 12 hour days for UPS worked out to be very lonely though I do admire him for all the hard work.  After all he worked 12 hour days for a week and a half before christmas and I am the one complaining.  He never complained once.  My husband is an amazing provider and I thank God for him everyday.  I'm lucky to have him.  Life at Outback has been decent to me.  I really don't care for the job... not the people  I work with or the managers or anything I just hate dealing with the public and waiting on people.  On a more positive note, I begin training for head wait this week.  It's not anything too special it just means that on saturdays I will stay till around  12:30 or so and do a bunch of office work... it offers more hours and the potential to make more money.  I will get a bigger station than the rest of the wait staff and the hostesses will be told to keep my tables full.  I will also get a free meal of choice on the night that I head wait, which is pretty cool.  The last couple days have been pretty cool.  Today Cale, Cj, Keri and I had lunch and visited for a while which was nice.  Tommorrow for new years we are going to Cale's parents house to visit; we have not seen them since Thanksgiving so I am very eager to see them.  I miss them and I know Cale does too.  Then we will come home so that I can go to work.  I have no idea what I'm doing after work because I don't know what time I'll be off.  Cale and I picked out a bottle of champagne for new years but we gave in and opened it now.  It is nice to relax tonight and enjoy it because I know tomorrow won't be as relaxing.  I'm glad we opened it now.

thanksgiving

This thanksgiving was pretty cool.  Cale and I went to his parents house and hung out with Lee, Kendria, Emily and Eli all day.  We had a delicious lunch, played a lot of wii, Lee kicked everyone's butt at monopoly, and finally, we watched wall e which was really cute.  I missed a chunk of the middle cus I fell asleep.

The food was so delicious... Kendria made turkey, green beans, potatoes yumm, and this really good raspberry jello salad thing.  Eli made a really delicious boston cream pie from scratch!

I was in charge of bringing a salad and I also made some cookies!!! I really like how the turkeys came out.  Cale did all the eyeballs! He's an amazing helper! These are the turkey cookies:
